March 20, 2012 - Thomas Middle School students visit GAM

Mount Prospect, IL - Students from nearby Thomas Middle School (Arlington Heights School District 25) came to GAM to learn about engineering and manufacturing.  After pizza and a presentation by GAM engineers about what they do and all of the interesting projects they work on, the students got to jump right in.

They started off in the design department helping to model and analyze a part using the latest 3D software.

From there, they were off to production where their part was programmed into a CNC machine with help from GAM’s manufacturing manager.

In a few short minutes, their design came to life and their part was produced.  After inspecting the part to their drawing, it was off to final assembly and testing.

The students came to GAM with a general interest in math and science, and a few hours later they left with a stronger curiosity in engineering (and a pretty neat phone charging dock).
