We are looking for a Design Engineer to:

  • Create new product designs of gearboxes and other products.
  • Modify existing product designs and design components that will meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop unique product designs for new applications, investigate and analyze problems, determine changes, make corrections and set requirements.
  • Perform engineering analysis on customer returns and field engineering support and assistance.
  • Create/modify engineering documentation such as: assembly instructions, BOMs, process documents, testing/root cause analysis reports, and ECRs.
  • Edit technical product content in marketing and sales materials (technical aides, website, databases and application materials).
  • Provide technical support to GAM teammates in sales and customer service roles.  Communicate directly with customers in special circumstances where technical expertise is needed. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering capacity. 
  • Knowledge and experience in designing gears.
  • Ability to design mechanical assemblies, gearboxes, and drivetrain components.
  • Bachelors Degree in either Mechanical Engineering or General Engineering. Other disciplines will not be considered as this position requires the technical and specific knowledge obtained by an ME or GE.
  • Advanced practical and applied CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Ability to read/edit/draft technical drawings, experience with GD&T required.
  • A confident communicator with the ability to explain technical information to engineers but also make appropriate adjustments for non-engineers – both in writing and verbally. 
  • Demonstrated abilities in collaboration, delegation, and the management of successful projects with peers, manufacturing staff, and management.
  • A creative problem solver, calm under pressure, organized, and able to adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Experience in any/all of the following: manufacturing methods, particularly CNC machinery; servo gearboxes; creating, modifying, and editing databases in MS-Access, or SQL; FEA; and/or PDM.
