Gearbox Assembler

GAM Enterprises is a manufacturer of mechanical products used in the Robotics and Factory Automation Industries.  We have a unique opportunity for a full-time Gearbox Assembler in Mount Prospect, IL.

If you are mechanically inclined and enjoy putting pieces together like figuring out how puzzle pieces fit together, then we want to hear from you.

In this role, assemble complete gearbox from components, as well as modify configurations of already assembled gearboxes.  The ideal candidate will be someone who has a mechanical aptitude for assembly and is able to follow work instructions.

CNC Machinist - Setup/Operator

In business for more than 30 years, GAM manufactures precision mechanical components used in the Factory Automation Industry.  “GAM Can is our passion” where we live and breathe our core values of teamwork, being action-oriented, building long-term relationships, professionalism, and having fun.  We have an opportunity for a technically minded curious person to setup, operate, and correct malfunctions involving CNC machines or robots to machine (5-axis machining centers, mills, and lathes with live-tooling).   

What you will be doing:

  • Setup and prepare CNC machines for a job run. This includes setting up jobs through 1st piece inspection.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Engineer and the Production Supervisor to optimize CNC programs and setups for quick change-overs and reduced cycle times
  • Perform inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
  • Operating manual lathes, mills, shaping machines and other general manufacturing/factory tasks.
  • Load and unload the machines for job runs.

You will need:

  • 3-5 years of experience of doing setups, program changes, and troubleshooting on CNC machines using G and M-code.
  • Experience with lathes with live-tooling (DMG-Mori, or Mazak-Integrex experience a plus).
  • Work history which includes accurate and precise use of measuring equipment (+/- .0001” tolerances), as well as interpreting engineering drawings, understanding all symbols and GD&T.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to manage work time and be self-directed to meet essential production needs.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, ability to lift 50 pounds, and stand on your feet for an entire shift.
  • Prepared to work overtime, some Saturdays, and a very occasional 2nd shift

Design Engineer

GAM Enterprises, Inc. (Mt. Prospect, IL) seeks Design Engineer- Gearbox to create new and modify existing gearbox product designs, develop custom gearbox product designs for new applications as per AGMA/ISO standards. Design & develop Lean 6-Sigma continuous improvement projects, investigate & analyze issues, determine solutions, make corrections & set requirements. Create/modify engineering documentations such as manufacturing drawings, assembly instructions, BOMs, process documents, testing/root cause analysis reports & ECR’s

Regional Sales Engineer

GAM Enterprises manufactures mechanical products used in Robotics and the Factory Automation Industry.  We have an opportunity for a Regional Sales Engineer to grow sales in an assigned territory, as well as support our existing customer base and external sales channel. 

The position reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager and is based out of our Mount Prospect, IL headquarters. Extensive travel required in this position in principle, 3 weeks per month and 4 days per week on the road.  The first year will be spent in-house, training and working with our Inside Sales Team.

The Regional Sales Engineer will be ultimately responsible for all aspects pertaining to selling, managing the sales channel, and for customer satisfaction in the region.  The RSE will interact with mechanical design engineers at our customers to sell and apply our products and solutions. The ideal candidate is a “Hunter” type salesperson, is technically competent in engineering-mechanics, loves interacting with people, and who would thrive at working in our fast-paced company; where the velocity from the time of order, design, manufacture, and ship is very high.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Regional Sales Engineer will be responsible for technical sales and support of all products.  This includes:

  • Grow GAM’s overall business with good profitable business
  • Cultivate new and existing business into long-term relationships
  • Manage a territory’s sales channel to perform to the highest level, ensure that their targets and goals are met, and they meet the professional standards set-forth by GAM
  • Coordinate activities of other GAM team members to ensure a customer issue, request, or requirement is adequately addressed in a timely manner
  • Sizing and applying products to fit customer needs. Utilizing formulas to make appropriate determinations. Interpreting customer drawings.
  • Managing and following up on sales leads with an emphasis on cross-selling other products
  • Quoting and processing orders.
  • Performing product failure analysis and creating technical drawings for customer modifications.
  • Provide sales and service support to customers and agents by handling in-coming inquiries (mostly via phone and email) to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics.
  • 2-5 years’ experience at selling a technical product in either an Inside-Sales or Outside-Sales capacity.
  • An outgoing, proactive, and friendly sales personality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to juggle and manage changing priorities.
  • Interest in and ability to applying technical knowledge in a sales and support environment.
  • A problem-solver with a can-do-attitude.
