Human Resources Manager or Senior HR Generalist
Human Resources’ mission is to support GAM’s strategic initiatives by giving great service to our most valuable resource – our people. This is accomplished by living out GAM’s core values of fostering teamwork, being action-oriented, building long-term relationships, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, and having fun.
Our full-time position will report to the President and will be on-site at our Mount Prospect office alongside growing 45 GAM team members.
- Recruitment – posting/advertising positions; screening, interviewing and vetting candidates; assisting managers in decision making; preparing offer letters; and coordinating pre-employment drug screens.
- Payroll Administration – Manage all HR transaction in HRIS, process bi-monthly payroll, manage time clock, and provide financial reports to Controller.
- Benefits Design & Administration – partner with insurance broker and ownership to provide well-rounded, fiscally responsible benefits that provide employee security. Pay monthly insurance bills. Administer all benefits enrollments and changes to medical, life, and disability plans.
- Employee Development & Relations – onboard and engage with new hires; facilitate annual performance review process; coordinate all training and development efforts including tracking; provide coaching/mentoring to employees, managers and leadership.
- Compliance – develop all policies, procedures and craft job descriptions in partnership with management team; ensure compliance with all federal, state and local legislation including OSHA; support safety committee and coordinate light duty and return-to-work activities.
- Employee Engagement – plan and execute all employee-focused events that build the GAM value of fun including birthdays, work anniversaries, social events both during or after working hours that build a stronger sense of team; facilitate strong internal employee communication.

Salary: $83,000 - $95,000
REQUIREMENTS
- Worked in an in-house Human Resources team for 5+ years as a generalist, ideally for a small, fast-paced entrepreneurial company where everyone makes a difference.
- Education or experience commensurate with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development or Leadership.
- Working knowledge and professional experience with employment law, compensation, organization planning, organizational development, employee relations, recruitment, payroll, benefits and compensation administration, succession planning, and HRIS systems; preferably Paylocity.
- An outgoing and friendly service-focused personality with an ethical and trustworthy approach who knows how to establish the foundation for long term relationships with managers, employees and candidates alike.
- Proven interviewing skills, a good communicator, excellent writer and confident conversationalist, and the ability to actively listen to candidates, employees and managers to foster the best decisions.
- Accountable, organized, calm, confidential, discrete, and able to be an advocate for all staff.

CNC Machinist - Setup/Operator
About GAM Enterprises:
In business for more than 30 years, GAM manufactures precision mechanical components used in the Factory Automation Industry. “GAM Can is our passion” where we live and breathe our core values of teamwork, being action-oriented, building long-term relationships, professionalism, and having fun. We have an opportunity for a technically minded curious person to setup, operate, and correct malfunctions involving CNC machines or robots to machine (5-axis machining centers, mills, and lathes with live-tooling).
What you will be doing:
- Setup and prepare CNC machines for a job run. This includes setting up jobs through 1st piece inspection.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineer and the Production Supervisor to optimize CNC programs and setups for quick change-overs and reduced cycle times
- Perform inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.
- Operating manual lathes, mills, shaping machines and other general manufacturing/factory tasks.
- Load and unload the machines for job runs.
You will need:
- 3-5 years of experience of doing setups, program changes, and troubleshooting on CNC machines using G and M-code.
- Experience with lathes with live-tooling (DMG-Mori, or Mazak-Integrex experience a plus).
- Work history which includes accurate and precise use of measuring equipment (+/- .0001” tolerances), as well as interpreting engineering drawings, understanding all symbols and GD&T.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to manage work time and be self-directed to meet essential production needs.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, ability to lift 50 pounds, and stand on your feet for an entire shift.
- Prepared to work overtime, some Saturdays, and a very occasional 2nd shift

- An hourly rate between $30.00 to $38.00 based on experience.
